Coast Road Team Time Trial

Greens cycling club will once again be organizing the Team Time Trial on Sunday 10th Febtruary 2008 at Bahar ic-Caghaq Coast Road. After last year’s success we are delighted to provide the Maltese cycling community with another exhilarating event where we hope to see teams challenging each other.

The event is planned to be set up as follows:

Each team will be composed of a maximum of 4 and a minimum of 3 riders in order to allow each club to set its teams better.

Team members can be mixed from any category except for the under15 and the ladies in which case due to the restricted number in both these categories there will be an individual time trial for the ladies and one team for the Under 15

Team members can be of different clubs in the case that there would not be enough riders from the same club to make up the team. This team has to be authorised by the clubs involved.

Time will be given on the third rider of each team. In the case of a 4–men team, they can lose a rider along the way.

In the eventuality that the forth rider looses contact with his team due to puncture or race tactic, and his team decides not to wait for him, this rider has to get off the course and must not cross the finish line as his timing will not be valid and would interfere with the timing process. However if his team wins a prize he will also be rewarded.

In a 3-man team – ALL riders have to finish together or else they will not be timed.

The route used will be the same as the time trial national championship, from the green grocer at salina to just before the entrance to Maghtab
Race distance will be 40kms (6 laps) for all teams, 20km (3 laps) under 15 and 27km(4 laps) for the ladies

There will be prizes for the first three teams in the open category, A prize for the first 50+ team (composed of 50+ riders only) and Masters (composed of Master riders only). First three in the ladies ITT and a prize for each member of the U15 team.
All the usual time trial equipment can be used and there will one team car allocated for each club following their selected team except a motor cycle behind the U15 riders. Only approved helmets can be used.

Riders will leave at 2 minutes intervals and they are responsible in counting their laps and when to go through the finish area which will be located in the car park in front of coast line hotel. Remember, the watch will stop on the third rider!

Wheel/bike changing is allowed from the course strictly on the left side of the road to avoid obstruction to oncoming riders

No drafting will be allowed between teams, if any team overtaking or being over taken is caught drafting will be disqualified by the race judges who will be positioned along the course.

Race numbers will be provided by the organisers for the teams which have to be returned directly after the event.

Ladies can use their normal raced numbers provided by he MCF
